Be Transformed in Mind
How does the Christian command to “be transformed by the renewing of your minds” (Romans 12:2b) actually work?
In this process we are both active and passive, engaged but not the sole actors. God is at work with us. From another viewpoint, cognitive behavioural therapy, often considered the “gold standard” in psychology, seems to reinforce such biblical injunctions to change our thoughts and behaviour.
Yet often we see a gap between what we “know in our heads” and the “knowing” we experience and act upon day by day. Our thoughts and actions do not align with what we profess we believe and want. We have received the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), but the formation of Christ in us (Galatians 4:19) and transformation into his likeness is clearly ongoing (2 Corinthians 3:18).
This webinar examines our internal process and identify multiple sources that shape the way we interpret, feel, and behave.
We will consider what influences us and what can help us to move toward the renewal of our minds, with the joyful benefit of greater ability to “test and approve” God’s will (Romans 12:2c). Never have we been the sole actors in the formation of our minds. But we can become more active participants in our transformation.
