Happiness and Holiness
A Theological Framework for Human Flourishing
Wednesday 19th of August, 7:30PM-9:00PM (AEST)
Discover a biblical vision of flourishing...
The words health and wellbeing inspire images of green smoothies, long walks on the beach, and time spent in quiet rest or with good friends.
In other words, if you’re healthy, happy and fulfilled, you’re flourishing.
And if you’re in poverty, sickness, or pain, you’re suffering.
But the bible paints a different story.
In this free webinar, Matt Jacoby explores a biblical vision of human flourishing based on a holiness framework.
He argues that the popular “pleasure-pain” scale of human wellbeing is reductive and mechanistic, limiting our understanding of human identity…
And that knowing the biblical view of human identity makes a radical difference to our understanding of what human flourishing truly is, addressing themes like moral experience, shame, the sublime, and our need for purpose.
Join us on the 19th of August as Matt expands on this idea, and discover how you can apply this biblical view of flourishing to your own life.
Understand Dementia from a Faith Perspective
This workshop presents a complete view of dementia care, and seeks to explore how we, as Christians, can understand and respond to those living with dementia in our families and communities.
In this 4 hour workshop, you’ll learn:
- What dementia is from a clinical perspective.
- What services are available for dementia sufferers (and how you can help people access them).
- Skills and knowledge through real case studies of faith centred dementia care.
- How you can respond to dementia sufferers and offer help to carers, as an individual and within your faith community.
Main Presenter: Matt Jacoby
Dr Matt Jacoby is lecturer in Christian Thought at MST and senior pastor of OneHope Baptist Church in Geelong. He has a passion for exploring the philosophical foundations of Christian thought and challenging the mindsets that work against the Christian faith.
