Paid Workshop
Ageing? How Good Is That!
Theology and Science Get Talking on Human Ageing
Saturday 4th of July, 9:00AM-12:00PM (AEST)
People have been fighting against time since the very beginning.
One of the oldest pieces of literature, The Epic of Gilgamesh, even features a quest for immortality.
And really, who doesn’t want to live forever? After all, it’s one of God’s promises to us as Christians.
These days, the conversation is a little more complicated.
On one side, you have a culture fighting against aging, with cosmetics, plastic surgery and anti-aging treatments more popular than ever.
On the other, a growing contingent fighting for ‘ageing gracefully’, arguing that age and everything it brings is natural, and should be embraced.
David Hooker may be one of these people. While his background lies in molecular virology, recent research has led him to the intersection theology and science of human aging.
In this 3 hour workshop, you’ll dive into the theology of ageing to investigate:
- What the bible say about ageing.
- Whether ageing is good and natural, bad and the result of sin, or something else.
- How we, as Christians, should approach ageing.
And much more.
What’s Included in the Workshop
Whether you’re a pastor, a mental health specialist, or simply interested in ageing, this workshop will challenge and grow your perspective on ageing.
In this workshop, you’ll:
- Find clarity on how to theologically understand ageing.
- Get foundational material for pastoral aspects of ageing.
- Discover a new perspective on ageing.
- Grow in your theological understanding of an area that does not receive much attention.
Morning tea will also be included.
